INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Course Overview
This subject is designed to introduce the basic concept in chemical engineering. Topics that will be covered in this subject include the First Law of Thermodynamics for closed and open systems. This knowledge will then be applied for material and energy balances for single or multiple unit operations of non-reactive chemical processes. Students will be introduced to various types of traditional and modern reactors such as batch reactors, CSTR, PFR, PBR, Fluidized Bed Reactor, Biochemical Reactors and Membrane Reactors, and their applications in various types of chemical industries.
